What is Autism Spectrum Disorder?
Autism spectrum disorder or classical Autism is a neurdegeneration disorder of infancy and technically it is called Mucosulfatidosis (Multiple sulfatase deficiency). Autism is a kind of brain development disorder leading to impaired communication, restricted behaviour and less of social interaction. The signs of Autism are generally visible by the age of 2-3 years and prevalent in about 6-8 children out of 1000 births.
Autism Spectrum Disorder
There are three distinctive behaviour of autism in children ? problem in social interaction, problem in verbal and non verbal communication and repetitive behaviour with limited and obsessive interest. Although the exact cause of autism spectrum disorder has been identified yet but still it is considered to be caused by genetic as well as the surrounding environment.
Autism Symptoms
Symptoms of Autism are unique and it is generally said that "if you've met one person with autism, you've met one person with autism." This means that one person's symptoms differ from the other person suffering from Autism.
Social Symptoms of Autism
Some of the autistic people have excellent communication skills while others have no language skills at all. Some may be perfectly able to talk but when it comes to slang or conversation then they cannot do so.
- Autism sufferers do not understand the voice tone and body language.
- Lack of slang.
- Poor eye contact
- Tries to remain alone.
- Do not respond to any call. Not even his or her name.
Sensory and Motor Symptoms
External stimuli like sound and light affect autistic people in different manner. Some of the autism people are hyper sensitive and some are hypo sensitive to external stimulus. But these people are not physically disabled because of this problem. One more thing that is specific to autistic people is that they are very restless and never sits at one place.
Personality Symptoms
As said earlier these people differ from one another in symptoms and so the personality symptoms are not at all similar. Here is the general view on personality symptoms.
- Repetitive behaviour.
- Few but very passionate interests.
- Do not make too many friends.
- Do not indulge in conversations and keep changing it.
- Abnormal tones.
- Unable to recollect words and their meanings.
Causes of Autism According to Ayurveda
- Predominance of Rajas and Tamas in once mind.
- Aggravation of doshas in the body.
- Wrong eating habit.
- Unhealthy condition of body owing to some other disease.
- Frequent condition of anger, excitement, fear, anxiety. Attachment and grief.
Under such conditions mind is constantly affected leading to the intellect loss and imbalance. Under such circumstances the doshas in the body increases leading to the problem in cardiac region that further hurdles the channels going to mind resulting in Autism.
Ayurvedic Treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorder
As per ayurveda if any disease that does not occur because of genetic disorder, pregnancy complications or injury during birth or
pregnancy can be cured by taking right diet, ayurvedic herbs and right kind of ayurvedic medicine.
Diet plays important role in curing Autism. So the diet of the patient should be according to the needs of the patient. In any case avoid junk food, cold drinks, cheese, meat and alcohol. The diet should include the following products:
- Milk
- Pulses
- Fruits: Mango, Pineapple, grapes, apple, carrot
- Oils and Fats: Olive oil and clarified butter from cow's milk, medicated ghee
- Vegetables: Green leafy vegetables
The whole metabolism can further be detoxified by the many detoxification therapies like Oleation therapy, Fomentation therapy, Emesis therapy, Purgation therapy and Medicated enema therapy.
