Bakula belongs to the family Sapotaceae. Bakula is a Sanskrit name that means flower as bakula flowers are very attractive. It is a small to large evergreen tree that reaches upt o the height of 15m. Bakula flowers are white in color star shaped and pedicellate. Color of stem bark of bakula tree is dark grey with few cracks on the surface. Leaves are variable from oblong to elliptical, glossy and dark green.

Boil the bakula leaves in water to get excellent mouthwash that has the capability of preventing bad or foul breath just like Neem. Regular use of bakula also keeps your teeth and gums very strong and in place. Even it has antiseptic and curative properties so can be used on wounds.
