Laparoscopic Kidney Transplant : Important Points to Know

A Donator Should Be:

• -Aged between 18 to 70
• -Has to have a compatible blood group and antigen
• -Should be free from diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, any of the-heart, kidney or liver disease, sickle cell anemia, hepatitis or HIV
• -Fit at the time of surgery with no infection or inflammation.

Laparoscopic Kidney Removal Surgery

• -Laparoscopic removal of kidney is preferred for donor kidney removal.
• -Under general anesthesia, the surgery takes around three hours to complete.
• -3-4 keyhole incisions are made.
• -Laparoscope (thin tube with a light and camera) and surgical instruments are passed through them, and kidney is extracted through one slightly larger incision.
