Why Fats are Important for Health?

Why Fats are Important for Health?Fats are considered equally important for the body, as other minerals and vitamins. Fats helps us keeping the body warm, supplies an internal cushion for the organs, and are extremely important for heart. Fats are both good and bad. The bad fats are saturated fats and are generally found in cakes, crisps, biscuits and pastries to name just a few. These fats are actually liquidized and then re-hardened to add taste and texture to the particular food. They are the worse kind of fat for the body and excess of them may start to clog the arteries.

Most of us believe that fats should be avoided, specially if we are on a weight loss program, but mind you !! it is dangerous to cut out all fats. One should not stop taking mono-saturated and poly-unsaturated fats, as these are the best fats and actually help the body to burn off excess bad fats.

Why are Fats Good for Health
The body consumes two main fuels for energy, they are: The energy is obtained by changing carbohydrates to sugar and fats to fatty acids. However, fats are able to provide more than twice the energy of sugar.

So, its very clear that fats should be consumed whenever possible. One important factor related to this is a moderate level of physical activity, like yoga and aerobic exercise.

Fat for the Hormonal System - The hormonal system, which is one of the body's important life supporting system is dependent upon fats for good performance.

Fats as an Insulator - The body's ability to store some fat makes most climates on earth suitable for life.

Fat for Support and Protection - When we exercise, walk down a flight of stairs, and specially if we happen to fall, a great amount of support and protection is required, fats help in providing this protection, they act much like the packaging material.

Fats for Pregnancy and Lactation - Fats are a vital part of a healthy pregnancy as well as lactation. During pregnancy, fat physically protects the fetus.

Fats and Digestion - Fats are also important for proper digestion. Lipase and bile, two vital fatty substances, help in the digestion and absorption of dietary fats.

Fats Taste Good - The importance of fats for good taste is not hidden from anyone, every tasty food is fatty as well, the palatability of good food as a result of the presence of fat may be the difference between a healthy appetite and a poor, unhealthy diet.
