Healthy Sprouts Sandwiches

Sprouts Sandwiches Sprouts are one of the best foods that one can have for a healthy and active life. Being the ultimate source of fibre content, sprout recipes are quite popular among people who look for a healthy lifestyle. Check out the recipe for sprouts sandwiches below which would not only serve your taste buds well but, also help you stay active and healthy all through the day!

Cooking Time : 20 mins.
Serves: 4 sandwiches

Ingredients:

-8 slices of brown bread
-1.5 cups of mixed sprouts like lentil sprouts, soy bean sprouts, moong bean sprouts etc.
-1/2 cup onions, sliced
-1/2 cup potatoes, boiled and mashed
-1/2 cup onions, finely chopped
-2 teaspoons ginger-garlic paste
-1 green chilli, finely chopped
-2 teaspoons pav bhaji masala (if available)
-2 teaspoons coriander-cumin seed (dhania-jeera) powder
-1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder (haldi)
-1/2 teaspoon black salt (sanchal)
-1.5 cups tomatoes, finely chopped
-2 teaspoons oil
-Salt to taste

Method:

To Make Sprouts Stuffing

-First of all, take a non-stick pan and heat the oil in it. Now add the finely chopped onions and saute it till it turns translucent.

-Next, add green chillies and ginger-garlic paste in it. Saute it for another one minute.

-Then add coriander-cumin seed powder, turmeric powder, pav bhaji masala, black salt, tomatoes and salt and cook all of it for 5 minutes.

-Finally add sprouts and potatoes to it and mix them well.

To Make the Sandwich

-Since the above mentioned proportions are for four servings, you would need to divide the mixture into 4 equal parts.

-Now, put one of this portion onto a slice of bread and spread it in an even layer over it. Top this layer with a slice of onion, cucumber and tomato. Complete the sandwich by covering it with another bread slice.

-Repeat the same procedure to make the remaining three sandwiches.

-Lastly, grill the sandwiches using a little low fat butter in a pre-heated griller.

-Serve the sprout sandwiches hot.
